Super-effective DIY Facial Scrubs For Different Skin Needs

Why spend so much when you can make these super effective and low-priced DIY (do-it-yourself) facial scrubs for different skin conditions?

DIY FACIAL SCRUB FOR OILY SKIN

RICE SCRUB

For me, this is the most effective DIY facial scrub for oily skin. The grainy rice powder will not only remove dead skin cells but also reduce dead skin cells.

Ingredients

* 1 tablespoon grainy rice powder

* 1 tablespoon pure honey

Preparation and Application 

  1. Mix both ingredients properly.
  2. Apply the mix to your face.
  3. Gently massage for 5 minutes.
  4. Leave to sit for extra 2 minutes then rinse with warm water.

CUCUMBER SCRUB

Cucumber has a sharp and refreshing characteristic that gives the skin a bright look by narrowing your pores.

Ingredients

* 1 cucumber

Preparation and Application 

  1. Peel off the skin of the Cucumber.
  2. Grind the Cucumber and apply the grind to your face.
  3. When rubbing this mask on your face, make sure to massage in a circular upward motion.
  4. After 5 minutes of massaging, rinse out with cold water.

SUGAR AND HONEY SCRUB

Sugar and honey are readily available in many homes.

This scrub will remove dead skin cells as well as nicely exfoliate your skin while lessening and balancing the amount of oil your skin produces.

Ingredients

* Brown Sugar

* Pure Honey

Preparation and Application 

  1. Mix the ingredients well.
  2. Rub on your face in a circular motion for 5 minutes.

Ingredients

* ½ ripe banana

* 2 tablespoons ground oatmeal

* 1 tablespoon raw honey

Preparation and Application 

  1. Cut the banana into small parts.
  2. Mash using a fork and add oatmeal and honey.
  3. Mix properly and apply on your face.
  4. After application, leave to sit on your face for about 30 minutes then wash off.

RED LENTILS SCRUB

Red lentil is a pure exfoliator that leaves the face dirt-free when used. It removes dead cells in the skin and can also be used to treat acne. It is also called masoor dal powder. 

Ingredients

* 1 tablespoon red lentil powder

* 1 teaspoon turmeric powder

* 1 teaspoon yoghurt

Preparation and Application 

  1. Mix red lentil powder with yoghurt and turmeric.
  2. Apply the mix to your face and massage for 5-6 minutes.
  3. Rinse the mask off with warm water.

DIY FACIAL SCRUB FOR DRY SKIN

GREEN TEA, SUGAR, AND HONEY SCRUB

Green tea wards off wrinkles and clear scars and also acts as sunscreen when rubbed on the skin.

Incorporating green tea scrub into your beauty plan won’t be a bad idea.

Ingredients

* 6-7 bags of green tea

* A cup of Sugar

* 3 tablespoons pure honey

Preparation and Application 

  1. Cut the green tea open and scoop the content out into a bowl.
  2. Add sugar and honey and mix well to form a grainy paste.
  3. Apply over your face and scrub for 5 minutes.
  4. Wash off with warm water and pat your face dry.
  5. Apply face moisturizer.

SUGAR, MILK, AND HONEY SCRUB

Sugar will remove build-up from your skin simultaneously exfoliating it; milk brightens the look of your skin and also moisturizes it; and; honey will keep your face hydrated.

Ingredients

* 2 tablespoons sugar

* 3-5 tablespoons of milk

* 2 tablespoons pure honey

Preparation and Application 

  1. Mix all 3 ingredients to form a paste.
  2. Gently rub the paste on your face for 5 minutes (Do not apply forcefully to avoid injuring your face).
  3. Leave to sit for another 5 minutes.
  4. Wash your face with cold water.

DIY FACIAL SCRUB FOR ACNE-PRONE SKIN

STRAWBERRY AND YOGHURT SCRUB

Acting as an astringent, strawberry helps to clean clogged pores.

Strawberry will also exfoliate dead skin cells, remove microbes and brighten dry skin because of the salicylic acid it contains.

Ingredients

* ½ cup mashed strawberries

* ½ cup plain yogurt

* 1 teaspoon of pure apple cider vinegar

Preparation and Application

  1. Mix all ingredients.
  2. Mildly apply the mix to your face and massage.
  3. Leave the mask to sit for 15 minutes, then wash with warm water.

APPLE AND HONEY SCRUB

Records have proven that apples are rich in collagen and elastin is known for preserving the youthfulness of the skin.

Its antioxidant characteristic further prevents harm to the cell and tissue.

The work of the honey here is to moisturize and soothe your face.

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe apple
  • 1 tablespoon raw honey
  • ½ teaspoon jojoba oil

Preparation and Application 

  1. Peel the skin of the apple cause it won’t be needed.
  2. Put the apple in a blender and crush it till it’s smooth though not of a watery consistency.
  3. Slightly heat the honey in a microwave for some seconds.
  4. Blend all ingredients.
  5. Apply the mixture to your face in circular upward motions for 40 seconds.
  6. Leave to sit on your skin for 5 minutes before rinsing with warm water.

MILK AND HONEY SCRUB

Milk is a corrective for acne-prone skin. The lactic acid that milk contains helps in fending off acne-causing bacteria.

Natural milk clears dirt and excess oils from your face.

Ingredients

* ½ cup of milk

* 3 tablespoons honey

Preparation and Application 

  1. Mix milk and honey properly.
  2. Apply to your face and massage for 7 minutes in a circular upward motion.
  3. Leave the mask on for 3 minutes and rinse with warm water.

DIY FACIAL SCRUB FOR GLOWING SKIN

TUMERIC SUGAR SCRUB

This scrub will provide glow and shine to your skin. It brightens and lightens dark spots bettering general skin tone.

Ingredients

* 1 tablespoon of turmeric

* 2 tablespoons of brown cane sugar

Preparation and Application 

  1. Mix these ingredients thoroughly and gently apply them to your face.
  2. Scrub your face for 10 minutes then wash off using warm water.

COFFEE SCRUB 

Coffee is a whole game-changer when it comes to exfoliating scrubs. Coffee contains caffeine which aids in blood circulation on your face and also acts as a skin stimulant and all this in turn leaves your face with a bright look.

This scrub will also help to stop moisture loss. Using this scrub will give your skin a natural glow.

Ingredients

* 1 tablespoon finely ground coffee beans

* 1 tablespoon of fresh yoghurt

* 1 tablespoon of Honey

Preparation and Application 

  • Mix grounded coffee beans and yoghurt well in a bowl.
  • Apply the mixture to your face and massage mildly.
  • Rinse well with water.

Note: If you have dry skin, substitute fresh yoghurt with full-fat milk.

If your skin also reacts negatively to milk, use honey instead.

BAKING SODA SCRUB

This scrub will give you clean skin.

Ingredients

* 2 tablespoons of baking soda

* 1 tablespoon of mineral water

Preparation and Application 

  1. Add your mineral water into the baking powder and stir when it bubbles up.
  2. Rub the mixture on your face and neck and scrub in a circular motion.
  3. Leave to dry for 10 minutes then rinse with cold water.

CHOCOLATE SCRUB

Chocolate boosts the production of collagen. And collagen is known for keeping our skin a youthful look. It aids skin elasticity, curbs sagging of the skin, and also increases blood circulation to the skin.

This scrub will not only radiate your face but also hydrate your face.

Ingredients

* 3 tablespoons of thawed dark chocolate

* 2 tablespoons of ground coffee.

* Granulated sugar

* 5-7 tablespoons of coconut oil

Preparation and Application

  1. Mix all the ingredients and store them in an air-tight container.
  2. Scoop a few spoonfuls and melt in a microwave whenever you want to apply.
  3. Massage your face with the paste and allow to sit for 5 minutes.
  4. Wash your face with cold water.

DIY FACIAL SCRUB FOR SENSITIVE SKIN

ALOE VERA SCRUB

Aloe vera is good for calming skin irritation. it is also a good skin moisturizer.

This scrub will help clean and lightly exfoliate your skin. It is ideal for sensitive skin types.

Ingredients

 * 3 tablespoons of freshly extracted aloe gel

Preparation and Application

  1. Apply the gel to your face and allow it to sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Wash off with warm water.

HOW FREQUENTLY SHOULD I EXFOLIATE MY FACE?

Subject to your skin’s toughness, 2 – 3 times a week is enough for exfoliating. It shouldn’t be more than.

NOTE: When applying your facial Scrubs, your neck shouldn’t be left behind.

Do not forget to apply the scrub on your neck too to avoid flaws.

In addition, never forget to apply your face moisturizer after rinsing off your scrub.

And lastly, make sure to massage your face in an upward circular motion to avoid sagging of skin and to aid proper blood circulation.
